The Benzie Area Historical Society is partnering with Northwestern Michigan College's College for Kids to host "Unplug and Rewind to 1900", a one-day program at the Drake School, a real one-room schoolhouse that operated from 1891-1943 in northern Benzie County. Children in grades 1-5 will experience learning and play in 1900, before computers, smartphones, and all of the technology and devices of the modern day. Students will walk on stilts, play fun games, make crafts, and more! The program is on Friday June 21st, and runs from 9-4. Drake School is located at the corner of Valley and Fowler Roads. The program costs $89. An authentic pail lunch and snacks are included. Three scholarships are available to Benzie County students, and are funded by the Benzie County Community Chest. Applications for the scholarships are through the NMC registration process. https://www.nmc.edu/resources/extended-education/find-a-class/college-for-kids/all-classes.html For more Information please contact the Benzie Area Historical Society and Museum at 231.882.5539 or email us at info@benziemuseum.org
