Event Description:
Join us at Misty Acres: The Borwell Preserve for a variety of upkeep, invasive species and infrastructure tasks! This 627-acre Nature Preserve features a small hiking trail, frontage on the Betsie River, wetlands and springs, northern hardwood forests, a rotational grazing cattle operation and is home to the conservancy’s invasive species-combating goats. Volunteer tasks will vary by week and will support many of the features found on the property! The Basics: GTRLC will supply gloves, tools, water and snack bars. We will teach you everything you need to know about tool use, safety, and the importance of the work you will be doing. No prior experience necessary, just come prepared to learn! What will volunteers be doing: Infrastructure/fence improvements for our goats and cattle Trail maintenance Landscaping and gardening around the farm house Invasive species removal What should I bring? Dress for the weather! Always check the forecast in advance Sturdy, close toed shoes that can handle some mud Bring a re-usable water bottle and some snacks Sunscreen and bug spray for your safety and comfort Directions: https://goo.gl/maps/yTNGUyyPUQM2 Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us!
