Betsie Valley District Library 2018 Summer Reading Program Who: Ages 2 to Senior in High School Sign up starts June 9, 2018 and will run through August 25, 2018. Where: Come into the Betsie Valley District Library and sign up to receive your reading log. ***YOU ARE A READING ROCKSTAR!! Kick off begins June 9, 2018! come into the Library to have your ROCKSTAR picture taken for free when you sign up for the Library Rocks! Summer Reading Program! Photo Booth will be available 12-2PM! The Library is located at 14744 Thompson Ave., Thompsonville. Read 2 hours each week, mark or color the pictures on your log for that week, and come into the Library to claim your prize! Color or circle each picture for every half-hour that you read! Read each week to earn a different prize! Keep reading to earn a prize each week! Beginning readers can have a parent or big brother or sister read to them! If you read ahead, you still must wait for the appropriate week to come in and get your prize for that week-we want you to enjoy reading all summer! At the end of summer we will have a celebration party for everyone who has read for 20 hours and earned their reading certificate of accomplishment on August 25, 2018 at 2PM! ***Libraries Rock! Story and Activity Hour will be run June 20, 2018 to Aug. 15, 2018, Wednesdays, 11AM to 12PM. 6/20/2018: Bats Rock! Learn bat facts, listen to bat stories and make a bat headband! 6/27/2018: Birds Rock! Learn about bird songs, listen to bird stories, and make a pinecone birdfeeder! 7/11/2018: Celebrate Your Song! We’ll share musical stories, make music and parade down Thompson Avenue! Each child will get a free kazoo! 7/25/2018: Poetry Rocks! We’ll share poems and listen to how they make words sing! We will all decorate a leaf to make a Poet Tree for the Library! 8/1/2018: Dragons Rock! We’ll read funny dragon stories and make a dragon headband! 8/8/2018: Folktales From Around the World Rock! We will share folktales from around the world and make a pet rock! 8/15/2018: Libraries Rock! We will learn how libraries are magical places where you can find a book that can take you anywhere and we’ll make a book that you can take home!
